My Samsung CLP-325W printer is not working under Fedora-18 at the moment.
I'm not clear if I have to install the Samsung Unified Driver on my laptop,
or if it is sufficient just to locate and use an appropriate PPD file?

Any suggestions or advice gratefully received.

Thanks for your response.
I did look at the URL you suggested,
but unfortunately this did not help.
Various methods of using this printer were suggested.
Some involved installing the Samsung Unified Driver,
while others suggested changing the protocol to lpd, or lpr.

Have you actually tried any of them, and if so, which?

Regarding "is it sufficient just to use an appropriate PPD file" see
http://en.opensuse.org/Concepts_printing

PostScript printers need only a PPD file which matches the particular model.

Other printers (i.e. non-PostScript printers) need printer driver software
plus a PPD file which matches exactly the particular driver.
