Canon PIXMA MP250

I am trying to install driver for Canon MP250 on Tinycore Linux.

Canon provides drivers in deb and rpm form, I was unable to install them following the accompanied instruction, so I unzipped the deb file and obtained cups\backend\ folder and cups\filter\folder, I copied all files to cups folder under Tinycore, and installed PPD file within CUPS web interface.

When I tried to print test page I got "/usr/local/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij failed", where pstocanonij is the filter file.

Anyone had experience installing MP250 on Tinycore, will appreciate if you could share the know-how.

AIUI, gutenprint has a driver for the pixma mp250.

That should work better than canon's driver.

Thank you for the heads up.

I found cups+gutenprint the best place for linux printer driver.

However, I am using TinyCore 4.2 which comes with gutenprint 5.2.4, and MP250 is not part of gutenprint until 5.2.7 (the latest).

I will try to build a package of gutenprint 5.2.7 for tinycore, this is going to be fun and challenging sincer I am just half year old in linux world.

I will post my progress.

I was able to build package from gutenprint-5.2.8, it works fine.
